A YEAR IN PROVENCE (click here for more details)

We travelled to Provence in late October 2005, to continue our quest to find great wines - made naturally. We assessed the top 500 vineyards and shortlisted 5 for visits. Our top two vineyards are both in the Correns region. Both have great reds from the year 2003. Domaine des Aspras won Silver and Chateau Miraval won Gold at the prestigious Paris Wine Show.

Why are we so impressed by these two vineyards?.......
Firstly, their dedication to quality whilst delivering value for money. Secondly, their passion for natural wines, made from organic grapes. And thirdly, an amazing ability to produce great wines across a full range - white/red/rose.
Aspras and Miraval have superb vineyard locations with great microclimates. We spent two weeks in Correns, and we were so impressed by the wonderful organic scenery. Even the ducks and brown trout in the village river looked so healthy. And there is much more birdlife than we are used to in the South of France.
We've already trialled Aspras wines with key clients, and the Red Reserve sold out in no time. A full range of both Aspras and Miraval wines are due in late November / early December. Please try them. It is well known that Provencal Rose is among the best. But both reds and whites from these two vineyards are even more impressive. They have loads of individual character........ and they are healthier than most other wines!
