New Wines in from Provence - Organic, naturally Our love affair with the region of Correns continues and, for the Spring of 2007, we've brought in new wines that add a bit more variety and price points for that region.
A YEAR IN PROVENCE (click here for more details) We travelled to Provence in late October 2005, to continue our quest to find great wines - made naturally. We assessed the top 500 vineyards and shortlisted 5 for visits. Our top two vineyards are both in the Correns region. Both have great reds from the year 2003. Domaine des Aspras won Silver and Chateau Miraval won Gold at the prestigious Paris Wine Show.
RISING STARS: New Zealand & Chile (Click for more detail) For some time now, Divine Fine Wines has picked out New Zealand and Chile as the main countries to watch in the New World, along with Argentina. We are pleased to see that wine awards and trade figures appear to be confirming this.
SCREW CAP CLOSURES (Click here to read more) Screw cap closures are increasingly replacing traditional corks, particularly in Australia and New Zealand. Do n't be fooled into thinking that a screw cap closure indicates a cheaper wine - you would be completely wrong. Other synthetic closures, such as plastic, are usually inferior and often indicate a lower quality wine. But screw caps are now being used by many of the best wineries in Australia and New Zealand - including the Worldwide-acclaimed Voyager and Palliser Estates, whose wines are among our best.
