A Legacy Bottled: The 100-Point Château Lafite Rothschild 2000
Indulge in one of the most iconic expressions of Bordeaux excellence with the Château Lafite Rothschild 2000, a wine that defines timeless prestige and First Growth mastery. Hailing from an extraordinary vintage that garnered global acclaim, this 100-point wine is an exquisite testament to the impeccable terroir and exacting craftsmanship of Lafite.
The 2000 vintage emerged from an early, sun-soaked season with just the right balance of rainfall and radiant late-summer warmth. Harvested between September 21 and October 10, the grapes reached perfect ripeness, resulting in deeply concentrated fruit, supple tannins, and an elegance that only time can refine. The blend, comprised of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, is the epitome of Pauillac sophistication.
Vinified with extraordinary precision, each plot was fermented in wooden, concrete, or stainless steel vats, an approach tailored to the character of the grapes. After gentle maceration and careful monitoring, the wine was transferred to bespoke French oak barrels crafted at Lafite’s own cooperage, Tonnellerie des Domaines. Only the finest barrels were chosen for the final blend, ensuring that every sip is an encounter with purity and poise.
Tasting Notes:
James Suckling awarded this vintage a perfect 100 points, describing it as:
“Fresh, bright, and dense on the nose, with violets, minerals, cool stones, mint, and plum skins. Still youthful, this is a wine of finesse and contemplation. Elegant beyond measure, there is truly nothing like it.”
Drink now or cellar for decades, this is a wine for the next generation, with the grace to evolve beautifully through 2050 and beyond.

Discover the prestige and heritage of Château Lafite Rothschild First Growth Pauillac Bordeaux Wine, one of the most iconic and sought-after wines in the world. Classified as a Premier Cru Classé in 1855, this legendary estate has been under the stewardship of the Rothschild family since 1868, with Saskia de Rothschild, daughter of Baron Eric de Rothschild, currently at the helm.
Located at the northern edge of the Pauillac appellation in Bordeaux, France, Château Lafite Rothschild's vineyards lie just across from Saint-Estèphe, separated by the Jalle de Breuil stream and surrounding marshland. The estate spans 110 hectares of meticulously maintained vines, surrounded by 300 hectares of natural woodland and wetlands, which contribute to the estate's biodiverse ecosystem.
The vineyard is planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), complemented by Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (3%), and Petit Verdot (2%), a classic Bordeaux blend. Two key vineyard areas define the estate's identity:
• The gravel plateau, which produces the grapes for the estate’s flagship wine, Château Lafite Rothschild Grand Vin.
• The Plateau de Carruades, which lends its name and terroir to the highly regarded second label, Carruades de Lafite.
In 2011, the estate completed a state-of-the-art winery equipped with stainless steel and concrete fermentation tanks of various sizes, ensuring precision winemaking at every stage. All aging barrels are handcrafted by Lafite’s own cooperage, located nearby, ensuring consistent quality and unique character.
Château Lafite Rothschild is B Corp Certified, reflecting its commitment to sustainable viticulture, ethical business practices, and environmental stewardship. The estate is part of a global network of companies dedicated to meeting the highest standards of social and ecological responsibility.
