2023 Growing Season Insights:
The 2023 vintage in Bolgheri was shaped by mild winter temperatures and beneficial spring rains, ensuring healthy vine growth. A warm summer with intermittent rains helped the grapes ripen evenly, while cool September nights preserved the wine’s natural acidity and enhanced its aromatic complexity. These optimal conditions resulted in a red wine with high concentration and excellent balance.
Vinification and Ageing Process:
Le Volte dell’Ornellaia 2023 was crafted through separate fermentation of each grape varietal in small stainless-steel tanks, preserving their distinct qualities. Following alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for 10 months in a combination of used Ornellaia barriques and concrete tanks. This careful ageing process enhances the wine's tannic structure while expressing vibrant fresh fruit notes.
