Orders & Terms

To Order: Simply make a note of the wines and quantities that you require, then email [24x7] or phone [NB Store is open Tues-Sat 11am-6pm. On Mondays, try the mobile number]. If you email, then please supply a delivery address (1st line & postcode) and include the best contact telephone number(s).

Email: divinefinewines@btinternet.com

Tel: 0121 745 6999 / 07771 978236 (mob). If we are unable to take your call, do please leave a simple message, including your telephone number; wine name; quantity; delivery address/postcode.

Our Confirmation: We will confirm stock availability; prices; and delivery charges (if applicable) as soon as possible, normally within an hour or two, and almost always within 24 hrs.

Payment: as per the VAT invoice, by cash (in-Store or local deliveries), Debit card or bank transfer. If you have on-line/telephone banking, then an on-line transfer to our bank account is quickest and cheapest. To pay by Debit card, please call the Store on 0121 745 6999.

Keeping our costs and your prices low: We operate a simple and personalised customer policy, avoiding the extra costs and security risks of a full e-commerce site. Some people are (understandably) nervous about using debit cards over the internet, so we prefer you to call the Store so that we can take details over the telephone. Please avoid emailing any card details, for your own personal security. We do not retain your 3 digits security code once the transaction has been processed.

Prices / Minimum Purchase: All of our prices are set to be in the best decile (10%), and often we are at or around the best in the UK. The minimum purchase is one case (12 bots; may be mixed). We may make exceptions to the minimum 12 bottles order, for high value bottles and/or transactions over £150. Bottle prices are shown (a) excluding; and (b) including VAT. The 3rd column shows case prices excluding vat and, where indicated, an 'in-bond' price also excludes duty. Delivery charges are extra. Many of our wines can be bought by the bottle, i.e. mixed cases, but there are some wines (chiefly fine wines such as Bordeaux) where it is not commercially viable to split a case, or a minimum of 3 or 6 bottles is needed to make the sale viable.

Delivery: Shipment is made as soon as we have received payment, but local clients have an option to pay on delivery. Local deliveries (within 10kms/15 mins drive of the Store) are normally FREE and within 3 working days (often the same day). Nationwide deliveries are typically within 3 working days (3-7 days for bonded stock) and subject to modest delivery charges. Our main carrier is APC, often regarded as the best/most reliable wine carrier. We use their premium fragile handling service.
For deliveries directly from our bonded stores, we typically use LCB's own transport service. As wine specialists, the drivers are dependable. We charge out delivery at cost.
We can normally agree a convenient delivery date with you, and add special delivery instructions (e.g. try a specified neighbour if no response). APC require a signature as proof of safe receipt. If they are unable to make the delivery, they will leave a card so that you can contact the local depot to agree a re-delivery date. Please note that we are dependent on the goodwill of 3rd party carriers in following our instructions.
If your wine does not arrive by the designated date, or there are issues with the quantity; condition of the wine or packaging, we require you to notify us as soon as possible and within 7 days. This is so that we have a reasonable chance to find out what has happened, and then rectify the situation as best we can.

Returns/Exchanges: If you find a wine disappoints and/or is spoiled, then please let us know immediately and within 28 days of purchase. We will always do our best to resolve equitably and amicably, but please note that fine wines such as Bordeaux Classed Growths are (necessarily) bought at the buyer's risk. For such wines, we do our utmost to supply wines of A1 provenance, and we store in ideal conditions at Vinotheque. For private buyers, if a wine is spoiled, then please contact us at once, and retain the bottle and its contents for examination. Our wines are stored in good cellar conditions, and they typically have high quality corks or screw cap closures. Spoiled wines are therefore rare but can occasionally happen.

Stocks & Prices Quoted: We do our best to keep information up-to-date and reliable but on some occasions we may have to order fresh stock for your supply, or suggest the nearest alternative(s). We reserve the right to amend vintages and prices without notice, for instance in response to shippers changes and/or changes in tax or duty. However, we will consult you if the vintage change is likely to have a significant impact on the style or quality of the wine (e.g. Bordeaux; Burgundy; Champagne).

Difficulty finding a Wine ? We welcome enquiries for fine wines that you cannot find, especially those for special occasions.

Claims: In the unlikely event of any claims for damaged bottles or thefts from cases sent by public carrier, such claims can only be allowed if goods are signed for as "Damaged" or "Short", and notice given to us immediately by email. We will acknowledge your email within 24hrs. If not, please call us - just in case your email has not been received.

Accuracy of Our Statements: All information - including availability, prices and vintages - is provided errors and ommissions excepted. All statements are made in good faith and as accurately as possible, in the context of wine being a complex and often subjective topic which is prone to ongoing change.

Client Feedback: We welcome any feedback - good or bad - whether it be on this web-site, our wines, or our service. Please refer back to the Home Page for Contact details.
